Het roodbruine timmerhout komt goed tot zijn recht in constructies waar de balken zichtbaar blijven, zoals dakoversteken en houten raamwerken. ### Kopmaat van 150 x 150 mm, tot 6,70 m lang De opgegeven kopmaat is 150 x 150 mm. Dit artikel omvat lengtes tot 6,70 m; de beschikbare lengte kies je afzonderlijk. De maat is een nuttig vertrekpunt bij het uittekenen van balken, stijlen en andere constructiedelen. ### Douglas balken voor binnen- en buitenconstructies Europees Douglas wordt gebruikt voor onder meer dragende constructies, wanden, plafonds en dakoversteken. Voor buitentoepassingen is het belangrijk rekening te houden met vochtbelasting en de plaats van het hout in de constructie. ### Optioneel drenken of schaven Je kunt kiezen voor kleurloos of groen drenken als bescherming tegen insecten en schimmels. Ook schaven is mogelijk. Daarbij wordt de uiteindelijke kopmaat 5 tot 10 mm kleiner dan de opgegeven 150 x 150 mm. ### Douglas hout Douglas is naaldhout van de douglasspar. Het kernhout heeft een warme, roze tot roodbruine tint en een uitgesproken houttekening. Het hout is sterk en laat zich doorgaans goed bewerken, al kunnen kwasten en harsrijke delen de bewerking beïnvloeden. Het kernhout is matig duurzaam, terwijl het lichtere spinthout minder duurzaam is. Buiten zijn vochtbelasting en een passende behandeling daarom belangrijke aandachtspunten. Zoals ander massief hout kan Douglas bij wisselend vochtgehalte werken of scheuren.
