## Product omschrijving

Het lorkengeslacht Larix behoort tot de familie van de Pinaceae en telt een tiental soorten. 
Die groeien alleen in het noordelijk halfrond van Europa, Azië (o.a. Oost-Rusland en Siberië) en Noord-Amerika.
Lorkenhout gaat abrupt over van vroeg- naar laathout. Dat is goed te zien aan de duidelijke groeiringen. Het laathout is ook donkerder en dichter dan het vroeghout.
Het kernhout is roodachtig bruin en verdonkert aan het licht en door veroudering.

Lorkenhout heeft meestal een rechte draad en een fijne tot matige grove nerf en heeft de hoogste densiteit van alle naaldhoutsoorten.
Lorkenhout droogt gemakkelijk en heeft na het drogen een uitgesproken en aanhoudende harsgeur.
Lorkenhout is gemakkelijk bewerkbaar, zowel machinaal als met de hand. 

Dankzij zijn kleur, textuur en duurzaamheid kan lorkenhout ook onafgewerkt worden gebruikt. Het hout vergrijst dan met de tijd en houdt zijn natuurlijk effect.
